Welcome! We are Cynthia Taylor and Taylor Seitz, owners of Taylor Neuro Specialists and Nourish Assisted Living. We are happy to share our journey here with you and invite you to contact us with questions or for tour information.
As speech-language pathologists, dementia care practitioners, and brain injury specialists, we are dedicated to best care practices and serving our residents and their families with person-centered care. We promote dignity, respect, and involvement among residents, family members/loved ones, and the care team at all times. We take pride in having our families actively involved in the care planning process, providing education on their loved one's specific health needs, and maintaining open communication and availability for the resident and their families.
Welcome to Nourish! We are happy you're here.
Taylor graduated with a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2014 from the University of Northern Colorado. She began her career in a comprehensive Level 1 trauma center in Denver during which she lost a family member to ALS. It was when she transitioned to home health care that she and Cynthia met. Taylor's own family and clinical experiences provide her with the dedication and passion for working with individuals with neurological decline and neurodegenerative disease. She has presented at various conferences and symposiums to ensure evidence-based practices are shared. She attends numerous local multi-disciplinary clinics and is highly involved in community events, non-profit organizations, and fundraising. Taylor takes pride in going above and beyond for her patients and their families, believing strongly in personal relationships for optimal patient outcomes.
Cynthia originally worked in the field of organizational communication and change management. When her grandfather was diagnosed with and passed away from Alzheimer's disease, she discovered that the care available for older adults revealed gaps in care planning, education, and resources for families. She returned to graduate school and obtained a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2009 from the University of Cincinnati. She worked for 8 years in a comprehensive stroke center/Level 1 trauma center in Denver, and later transitioned to home health and long-term acute care settings. Cynthia specializes in creating functional strategies and supports for people living with brain injuries and dementia. She enjoys supervising students, training future practitioners on best practices, and collaborating with other disciplines for overall patient well-being.
Having worked in various healthcare-related settings, Taylor and Cynthia recognized areas of need for adults requiring ongoing care for outpatient therapy after home health services had been discharged. Many individuals are unable to access outpatient therapy due to transportation challenges, physical limitations, and long wait times at clinics. Taylor and Cynthia thus established Taylor Neuro Specialists in 2018 as a mobile outpatient speech therapy practice treating adults with stroke, traumatic and acquired brain injuries, neurodegenerative diseases, and all types of dementia.
Taylor and Cynthia have earned certifications in brain injury, voice and swallowing therapy, and dementia care management, and they are dedicated to training other speech-language pathologists through graduate internships and clinical fellowships. Taylor has presented at the Colorado Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and both of them have presented at numerous assisted living communities providing education to staff and caregivers on best dementia management practices. They partner with the ALS United-Rocky Mountain chapter, local stroke clinics, multi-disciplinary clinics for Huntington's disease and ALS, and with local neurologists for brain-injury cognitive rehabilitation. They are well respected for their evaluation and treatment of adults with speech and language disorders (aphasia), swallowing disorders (dysphagia), cognitive and executive functioning impairments, AAC/speech-generating devices, and dementia care.
Over the years, Taylor and Cynthia once again recognized gaps in care needs as they traveled to individuals' homes, independent and assisted living communities, and memory care centers. With rising costs of healthcare and tier-based payment systems of care in large facilities, they recognized that older adults could benefit from more person-centered care as they aged and needed transition from home to assisted living.
Nourish Assisted Living was established to provide residential assisted living services that take an individualized approach in a small care home environment. Taylor and Cynthia are dedicated to ensuring trusting relationships among all individuals, improving social engagement critical to aging bodies and brains, and having a personal involvement in care plans and residents' well-being along every step of their aging journey.
